Bromley Autumn Open Meet
On a wet Sunday morning, a handful of Southwark Aquatics swimmers travelled to Beckenham in South East London to take part in the Bromley Autumn Open Meet held at the Beckenham Spa Leisure Centre.
This is a one day meet consisting of 50m and 200m events only, so a good chance for some of the swimmers to try out the longer 200m distance.
The swimmers put in some good performances and were awarded with many medals. In total the swimmers took home a haul of 15 medals (2 x gold, 6 x silver, 7 x bronze).
Gold for Freya and Maria in the 200 Fly and 100 IM (respectively).
Silver medals for Alex (100 IM, 20 Back), Jessie (50 and 200 Breast), Freya (100 IM) and Molly (200 Fly).
Bronze medals for Alex (200 Breast), Molly (100 IM, 50 Fly and 200 Free), Maria (50 Fly) and Megan (100 IM and 200 Breast).
Jessie in winning gold in the 50 Breast set a new club record for her age group. This is the 2nd meet running she has broken the club record for this event.
Zivile claimed her first club record in the 50 Back and also set good PBs in the 200 Back and 200 Free.
Our youngest swimmer Grace (9 yrs) attempted the 50 Fly and 50 Back events for the first time and put in very good swims in both events.
There were also very good PBs for Boris, Finn, Shania and Sylvie.
Finally, many thanks to Mackinh for stepping in to coach the swimmers for this meet.
